Cardiac care at LMH ranks in top 25 percent across the country
In a recent national study, Lawrence Memorial Hospital (LMH) ranked in the top 25 percent of hospitals across the country in quickly recognizing and successfully treating patients who arrive in the emergency department with severe symptoms of an impending heart attack. Over 30,000 patients admitted to 346 US hospitals participated in the study conducted by Duke University Medical Center.

"The excellent performance at LMH is due in large measure to the hospital's aggressive use of the latest drugs, advanced diagnostic capabilities and round-the-clock inhouse cardiologists," said Laurence Conway, MD, director of cardiac performance improvement at LMH. "The trial results point to an important public health message for all area residents: Get to the ER as quickly as possible if you experience signs of a heart attack."

Results demonstrate that LMH's quality of care and outcomes for patients with acute coronary symptoms surpass even some of the country's best-known teaching hospitals. LMH ranked very high in terms of the quality of care administered to cardiac patients and achieved high survival outcomes.
